Student Information
ETSU at Kingsport has two locations (Allandale and Downtown). Allandale is a regional center, located on 97 acres, and Downtown is located at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education (KCHE)—the Allandale campus offers day and evening graduate and undergraduate classes.
Academic Advising: Advisement for the Allandale location occurs within academic departments at main campus. Advisor contact information is listed by major.
ETSU/HVMC Accelerated BSN Program: If you are interested in the ETSU/HVMC Accelerated BSN Program contact: Jessica Hamm, 423-392-8028. The advisor for the BSN program is Margaret Mahlin, 423-439-4578.
Tutoring: Tutoring is provided to students in sciences, mathematics, and English. Tutoring is free and available in an open lab setting. Tutoring hours are posted each semester throughout the building and available by calling the main office. Additional tutoring is available through Center for Academic Achievement on the main campus.
Proctoring: Proctoring for online courses is available by appointment by calling the Allandale main office.
Library Services: Computers are available in the KARS (Kingsport Academic Resource Services) area to access online library resources.
Computer Lab: Computer labs are available for student use. A student monitor and ETSU staff are available to help students with computer problems, printer issues or accessing online classes. Computer Lab hours are posted each semester throughout the building and available by calling the Allandale campus main office.
Orientations: New student orientations are conducted on the Johnson City main campus.
Financial Aid: Students may fulfill requirements for academic performance scholarships and work-study positions at the Allandale location.
Accuplacer Assessment: Students who are required to take a placement test may do so at the Kingsport Allandale Campus. Appointments for the Accuplacer assessment are made by calling the main office.
Scholarships: ETSU at Kingsport offers seven (7) scholarship opportunities. Completed application forms received by July 20th will be considered. Scholarship information is currently being updated. Contact the Director, ETSU at Kingsport, at 423-392-8000 for more information.
Bookstore: Students may purchase textbooks online.
Office Assistance: Prospective students are provided information about admission to the university and programs available in Kingsport. Information regarding tutoring, computer labs, and scholarships may be obtained from the Kingsport Allandale Campus main office or the ETSU downtown office. Additional assistance to students includes faxing materials (Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid and Bursar’s Office) and referring students to appropriate offices on main campus. Students may also pay fees at the Kingsport Allandale Campus. Students or interested individuals may call or stop by the main office for assistance during office hours.
Student Recruitment: Kingsport campuses facilitates recruitment by providing marketing, advertising, news releases, printed posters, flyers and mailers for Kingsport locations. Information meetings may be periodically scheduled at each potential site to gauge interest and answer prospective student questions. These meetings may include representatives from the departments, financial aid, and graduate school (when appropriate).
Counseling: ETSU students have counseling services available through the ETSU Counseling Center.
ETSU is prepared to respond to students distressed by incidents that occur at Allandale or KCHE. The Counseling Center in Johnson City offers free and friendly drop-in sessions with counselor consultants known as "Let's Talk". You can find the schedule for these informal visits here.
Additionally, a Mental Health Help Line called BucsPress2 (at 423-439-4841, then press 2) is available 24 hours per day. Contact the Main Office for additional information if needed.
Support Activities
Student Activities: Activities are offered throughout the year and may include but are not limited to
movies, sports tournaments, picnics, special speakers and lectures as well as service
projects. Students interested in participating in the Kingsport Student Service Organization
(KSSO) may do so throughout the semester.
