Zara received his bachelor's degree in psychology at East Tennessee State University
in 2020, and his master's in counseling in 2024. During their stay at the counseling
program, they interned at the ETSU counseling center, and they are so excited to be
back! Zara draws from a variety of counseling techniques, including Relational Cultural
Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative therapy to help explore students'
unique mental health needs. Zara emphasizes the importance of genuineness, authenticity,
warmth, Empathy and mutuality in the counseling relationship, and strives to meet
every student where they are in their growth. Professional interests include working
with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, exploring
relationships and family systems, and working with folks who hold neurodivergent identities.
In their spare time, Zara enjoys playing video games, reading, writing, and listening
to music and hanging out with his partner, and their Cat, Atlas
